Let's try the word Family "im"

Please remember that some of the JK's might not know their letter sounds yet (and that's okay, and as it should be -- it is developmental!). We can still do word family work and focus on naming the letter as well as the sound before we put the letter to the word family ending. For example:

"This is a t, it makes the sound t, t, t. Can you make that sound? Now put that t sound at the front of "im" -- t,im; tim.

Nonsense words are fine! You can ask your child if they think it is a real word or a nonsense, or silly word.
