Going on a Bear Hunt! Touching Nature :)

Today we are Going on a Bear Hunt (by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury)
When the family visits different places, think about how the places would look, smell and feel.

Afterwards, you should go outside in your bare feet (if your mom and dad will let you). I want you to really pay attention to how the ground feels under your feet.

How does the deck feel?
How does the pavement feel?
How does the grass feel?
Are there any puddles? How to they feel?
If your mom and dad will let you, but your toes. or feet into some squishy mud.

When I was a little girl, I would run around all summer without my shoes! We lived in the city, but had a gravel driveway, and I could walk on the little without saying ouch! Sometimes the bottoms of my feet were black from walking on the tar on the street! They don't pave the streets in Toronto with the same kind of tar, so you won't know what it feels like to pop tar bubbles with your toes. It is up to your parents to decide if you are allowed to walk in your yard without shoes.  Parents want to keep your feet safe, and if you don't wear shoes, you might cut or scrape or stub your toes!
