Think About it Thursday - Cooperation

What is cooperation?
Cooperation means working together.
How can you show cooperation?
By sharing
By taking turns
By using kind words
By listening

This is a song about cooperating (listen to the words - there isn't a page for all of the words)

What can we say when we are trying to cooperate?
We can say things like:
"How can we do it?
"Let's do it together."
"You can go first."
"It's your turn now."
"Maybe we can try this..."

Red and Yellow's Noisy Night by Josh Selig is a story about two animals who have a conflict and work together to solve their problem.

(Some parents have asked me why I am not reading my own books as read-alouds. My books are at school :(  But at the bootom of this post, I have a link to me reading one of my favourite books! More to come!

What was the conflict between Red and Yellow? (Why were they angry at each other?) What did they do to solve their problem? (They cooperated! They listened to each other and Red came up with an idea that might help. They used kind words. Red played more quietly and Yellow said that he liked it.)

How do you show cooperation at home?
Does cooperating make your home a better place?
Do you think that it is important to cooperate even if you don't want to?
Try making a poster that helps to teach someone in your family a way to cooperate.

One of my favourite author-illustrators is Lio Lionni!
He wrote and illustrated this book called Swimmy. In Swimmy, a group of fish cooperate to solve a problem.
