Check out the weather!

What is weather?
Weather is what is happening in the air outside.
Weather can change from day to day.
You use your senses to observe the weather. You can see it, hear it, and feel it.

Here is a video and song that tells you a bit about the weather.

What are some different kinds of weather?
(Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Snowy, Windy, Foggy, Stormy....)

TRY IT!
Look outside and observe the weather! What is the weather like today? Can you draw a picture of today's weather?

We have lots of read alouds in today's post! You might want to spread them out throughout the day or the week!

This book is called It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G Shaw. I wonder why Ms. Brown is showing a book about milk?

Can you see any clouds outside today?  Use your imagination! What do you see?

This book about weather is by one of our Favourite Authors -- David Shannon --  who also wrote No David! It is called The Rain Came Down.

Did the adults in the story like the rain? Do you think that anyone in the story liked the rain? Do you like the rain? Why or why not?
Why do you think that rain is important (we need water to drink, it waters the plants.....)

Next Up is Kite Day by Will Hillenbrand

Why did Mother Bird say Thank You to Bear and Mole?

What kind of weather do you need to fly a kite?
The wind is important because it can move things. What does the wind move?

Try it!
We might not be able to fly a kite right now, but you can try to make a wind sock! Check out how right here! (Parents, if you don't have any tissue or crepe paper, use toilet paper, kleenex or paper towel. Be creative!)

Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London.

Froggy forgot a lot of things today!
It is really important to know what the weather is outside so we dress properly for the weather and stay warm and dry!

This is my favourite "tongue twister! "Whether the weather be good, or whether the weather be not. We'll weather the weather together, whether we like it or not!" It is really hard to say. You might want to try it!

(we will talk about temperature next week!)
