Do Your Socks Get Soggy?

I think that I have already uploaded this on this blog at some point, but it's that time of year again!

Our socks ARE soggy everyday!

Thanks Douglas John Cameron!

What Do You Like to Do?

What Do You Like to Do?

What kinds of things do you like to do?
Do you like to ride a bike,
Skate on ice, or go for a hike?
That’s what I like to do!

What else do you like to do?
Do you like to race to the finish line,
Eat ice cream, or stay up past nine?
That’s what I like to do!

What kinds of things do you like to do?
You can write your own rhyme,
And have a good time,
And share all the things that you like to do!

At the Rink

At the Rink
My brother took me skating
At an ice-skating rink.
There were people zooming past us
Quicker than a blink!

I held my brother’s hand
As we stepped out on the ice,
And I was rather thankful
Just to skate around twice!

100 Words for Snow

We read the book Snowballs by Lois Ehlert, and then decided to have a go at making our own snowmen out of found objects and scraps that were destined for the garbage or recycling.  Then (to add a literacy component) we tried (and are still trying) to come up with 100 words for snow. 100 words that describe snow. We have about 40 so far!

Almost a Snow Day

It was almost a snow day today :) Snow was falling -- and piling up to more snow than we've had in a few years. It was so exciting. Only about half of our class was at school today, so we had a pretty layed back day. We went out early for recess and I tried to get everyone to make snow angels. Most declined :) So I had to show them what to do! They all warned me that you shouldn't make snow angels without snow pants on! I just got a little wet -- but I didn't complain.

Have a happy snow weekend! Go out and play in the snow -- go ice skating, tobogganing or just make some snow angels!

Come Out Little Groundhog

   Come Out Little Groundhog

By MaryAnn Kohl

Come out little groundhog,
come out and look around,
If you see your shadow,
you must go underground,
But if the day is cloudy
and no shadow can be seen,
You may stay above
and welcome in the spring.

Words of the Week:
Grade 1&2 - Again, we are focusing on sight words found in the poem.
